Oasis have expressed shock and sadness after a man died in a fall at Wembley Stadium during their Saturday concert. The man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene after being found with injuries consistent with a fall from the upper tier of the 90,000-seat venue.
The Metropolitan Police responded to reports of an injury at 10.19pm. A spokesperson said the stadium was busy and it is likely many people witnessed the incident or may have captured it on mobile phone footage. Police have appealed for information to help confirm what happened.
Oasis released a statement saying: 'We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.' During their Sunday concert, the band dedicated the track 'Live Forever' to those who could not be there.
A Wembley Stadium spokesperson confirmed that medics, the London Ambulance Service, and police attended to the concertgoer. Despite their efforts, the fan died. The family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained police officers.
The Oasis reunion tour, featuring Liam and Noel Gallagher together for the first time in 16 years, includes seven shows at Wembley and five in Manchester, with further dates across the Americas, Asia, and Australia.
