Derek McInnes will make his bow as Rangers boss when the Light Blues welcome West Ham to Ibrox next month. Gers chiefs have confirmed they will host the Hammers on Sunday, July 26.
The game, which kicks off at 4pm, will see McInnes make his first public appearance in Glasgow as boss of the club he grew up supporting. The former Gers star has finally clinched a return to Ibrox after being headhunted by chairman Andrew Cavenagh to replace Danny Rohl.
And the pre-season warm-up clash with the West Londoners will provide fans their first glimpse of what the former Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Hearts gaffer has in store for them in the season ahead. Nuno Espirito Santo’s West Ham squad, meanwhile, are preparing for life in the English Championship after being relegated from the Premier League last term.
Gers are expected to announce further friendly fixtures in the days to come. They had been due to travel to Austria for a eight-day training camp starting on July 10 but the departure of Rohl has cast doubt on those arrangements.
Rangers will get their new Premiership campaign underway when they travel to Tannadice to face Dundee United on the evening of Friday, August 31.
