The Blackpool Airshow is set to return to the Lancashire coast this weekend, drawing thousands of spectators for a free two-day event featuring some of the world's top civilian and military aircraft.
Taking place on Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9, the airshow will showcase the best of British aviation with an impressive line-up of flying machines and skilled pilots. However, the Red Arrows will not be participating this year; they can be seen later this month at the Southport Airshow.
Confirmed Aircraft and Displays
This year's line-up includes the RAF Typhoon display team and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, featuring the iconic Spitfire, Hurricane, and C-47 Dakota. Also performing will be The Red Devils, the British Army's official parachute display team, consisting of 15 paratroopers delivering an adrenaline-pumping performance.
Additional aircraft confirmed for both days include the Harvard, Xtremeair, Autogyro Calidus, Yaks, Muscle Pitts, The Ravens, Hawk, Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers, US Fighters (P-47 Thunderbolt, P-51 Mustang, Spitfire), and a MIG17.
Event Details and Village
Visitors can also explore the Air Show Village, open from 12pm to 7pm daily, located along the promenade and on the Tower Festival Headland. It features traders, merchandise vendors, exhibits, and food and drink stalls.
The airshow runs from 10am to 5pm on both days, with the village open from 10am to 6pm. Admission is free, and no tickets are required.
Getting There
The nearest train station is Blackpool North, a ten-minute walk from the seafront, North Pier, and Pleasure Beach. Travellers are advised to book tickets in advance due to expected high demand. Coaches run regularly from Manchester to Blackpool. For drivers, follow directions to FY1 4BJ and local signs to parking; expect heavy traffic.
