Manchester United are reportedly considering loaning out midfielder Sekou Kone this summer, just a year after his arrival at Old Trafford. The 19-year-old was signed from Malian club Guidars FC for around £1 million under former manager Erik ten Hag.
Kone has yet to make his senior debut for United but was included in Ruben Amorim's squad for the post-season tour of Asia, where he featured as a substitute in matches against Asean All Stars and Hong Kong. He has also been named on the bench for Premier League fixtures against Tottenham, Everton, and Nottingham Forest.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the club has placed Kone on a list of players available for loan ahead of the 2025-26 season. The aim is to provide him with more first-team minutes to aid his development. Kone has primarily played for United's Under-21 side, making nine appearances in Premier League 2 and scoring once.
Under-21 coach Travis Binnion commented on Kone's progress, noting that while he struggled with fitness initially, he can now manage three games a week. However, Binnion stressed that Kone still has 'a long way to go' before being ready for first-team action, highlighting the need for improvement in discipline and decision-making.
Kone's potential loan move is part of United's strategy to ensure young talents gain valuable experience. The club remains optimistic about his future, with Binnion praising his ability while acknowledging the long-term nature of his development.
