Liverpool Urged to Exploit Newcastle's FFP Woes for Bruno Guimaraes

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has urged Jurgen Klopp to take advantage of Newcastle United's Financial Fair Play (FFP) difficulties by making a move for midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. The Brazilian international is reportedly available for around £100 million due to a release clause in his contract, but Aldridge believes Liverpool could negotiate a lower fee given Newcastle's need to sell.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Aldridge praised Guimaraes as a 'really good player' who would strengthen a position where Liverpool have struggled. 'He plays in a position where we need to improve,' Aldridge said, noting that while Wataru Endo has performed well, depth is crucial for a title-chasing side.

Newcastle CEO Darren Eales recently admitted that the club may have to sell key players to comply with FFP regulations. Manager Eddie Howe echoed this, stating that FFP is 'already a problem' and that the club must sell before they can buy. This has sparked speculation of a potential fire sale at St. James' Park.

Guimaraes, 26, is widely regarded as one of the Premier League's top midfielders. Liverpool have yet to make a signing in the January transfer window, and Aldridge's comments add to growing calls for the club to act swiftly to secure the Brazilian's services.
