Liverpool are considering a late move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, with the transfer window closing in 24 hours. The Reds have already had several bids turned down for the England international, but Palace may be open to a sale if their asking price is met, given Guehi has only one year left on his contract.
However, Palace manager Oliver Glasner has made it clear that Guehi remains a key player. Speaking before the match against Aston Villa, Glasner said: 'I deeply hope that Marc will play for us at Villa Park. I deeply hope that Marc will play until the end of the season for us.' Guehi started and captained the side in the 1-0 defeat to Villa on Sunday evening.
Liverpool's interest in Guehi intensified after selling Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen. The need for defensive reinforcements grew when Ibrahima Konate was substituted with an apparent injury during the win over Arsenal. Manager Arne Slot downplayed the issue, saying: 'I think it was only cramp so I don't think it was an injury.'
Liverpool are also pursuing Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, but the Magpies are determined to keep him. Meanwhile, several players could leave Anfield, with Kostas Tsimikas expected to join Roma on loan and Harvey Elliott attracting interest from RB Leipzig.
