Michael Carrick has confirmed that Casemiro's departure from Manchester United in the summer is final, despite the Brazilian's goal in Monday's 2-1 win over Brentford. The midfielder scored a header in the 11th minute, his ninth Premier League goal for the club, but his decision to leave in June after four years remains unchanged.
Carrick, the interim manager, stated that the decision is clear from both sides. He praised Casemiro's commitment, saying the clarity has helped supporters understand the situation. 'Credit to him because he's given absolutely everything and had some big moments for us,' Carrick added.
United's victory, sealed by Benjamin Sesko's first-half goal, leaves them third in the table, needing two points to secure Champions League qualification. However, Carrick stressed that the team should not stop there, aiming to finish higher and accumulate more points.
Brentford manager Keith Andrews expressed disappointment with the result but was pleased with his team's performance, noting their bravery after a slow start. Mathias Jensen's late goal proved a consolation for the visitors.
