Nicolas Jackson's proposed loan move to Bayern Munich has fallen through after Chelsea revoked permission for the striker to undergo a medical, following a hamstring injury to team-mate Liam Delap. The Senegal international had travelled to Munich on Saturday to finalise the deal, but was forced to return to London after the Blues changed their stance.
Chelsea had initially agreed a £13million loan fee with an option to buy Jackson for £56.2m next summer, but Delap's injury—which will keep him out for six to eight weeks—prompted the club to block the move. Jackson is said to be furious over the decision, and his camp has not given up hope of reviving the transfer.
Diomansy Kamara, the former Fulham striker who is part of Jackson's advisory team, posted cryptic messages on social media, suggesting the move could still be resurrected. Commenting on an Instagram story that read 'we're not going back', Kamara replied: 'Airplane doesn't walk backward...' He added: 'Of course it's hard... It's supposed to be hard. Hard is what makes it great.'
Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl acknowledged the difficulty, telling BILD: 'I'm not in a position to act. We will tell the player and his agent that they have to go back to London, he's a Chelsea player. For the final 48 hours, we'll try to find a solution.'
Earlier this summer, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca had suggested Jackson would be better off leaving, saying: 'It's better for Nico if what he desires is going to happen. He is available, but he's not going to be part of the squad because we have two players in that position.'
