Tsitsipas rant forces Sky Sports apology at Shanghai Masters

Sky Sports commentators were forced to apologise after Stefanos Tsitsipas launched an X-rated rant towards his coaching box during the Shanghai Masters. The Greek star was facing No. 11 seed Taylor Fritz in a third-round clash and found himself in trouble early on.

Serving at 1-2 in the opening set, Tsitsipas blew a 40-0 lead and was dragged into a lengthy game, having to save break points. Even as he battled to stay on serve, the world No. 43 was clearly unhappy and let his frustrations show as he shouted at his team.

Sky Sports apologises for language

As Tsitsipas continued to save break points, he yelled “tell me something” towards his box. Sky Sports commentator Naomi Cavaday noticed that the 28-year-old was ranting in English, likely on purpose so his entire team could hear.

“He’s still seething, and he might get away with this game. I think what he’s saying, he’s meaning for his camp to hear, because he’s speaking in English, which I feel might be deliberate,” she told viewers.

Commentator reacts to expletive

Right on cue, Tsitsipas again started venting after the next point, this time including an expletive. “Yeah, apologies for the language,” Cavaday added.
