NBA star Luka Doncic has purchased Maria Sharapova's £18.5 million mansion in Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Lakers guard, 26, acquired the five-bedroom property through his business manager, Lara Beth Seager, according to property records. Doncic signed a three-year contract extension worth £122 million in August and bought the mansion shortly after.
The retired five-time Grand Slam champion, 38, listed the home in July for £18.5 million ($24.995 million), having bought it for £3 million ($4.1 million) in 2011. Sharapova and her fiancé Alexander Gilkes decided to sell to spend more time in Europe with their family, according to reports.
The three-story house was custom-built in 2015 by KAA Design and sits on just under a quarter-acre lot. It features sea views, two bowling lanes, a media room, an outdoor pool, and a seating area with a firepit. The property is surrounded by greenery for privacy and includes modern storage and his-and-hers vanity sinks in the bathrooms.
Sharapova told Architectural Digest in 2019 that she was “obsessed with the process of making [the] home” and was inspired by Japanese architecture and minimalist aesthetics. She said she would go straight from tournaments to the worksite, adding, “This was my project, and I wasn’t going to delegate any part of it.”
Sharapova, who retired in 2020, won Wimbledon in 2004 at age 17 and went on to win the French Open, Australian Open, and US Open during her 19-year career.
