Robbie Ure Wants Rangers Return But Not This Summer

Robbie Ure, the former Rangers striker now plying his trade in Sweden, has admitted he would love to return to Ibrox one day but insists a move this summer is not on the cards. The 22-year-old is currently the top scorer in the Allsvenskan and has propelled surprise leaders IK Sirius to a nine-point lead at the summit of Swedish football.

Ure's Rise in Sweden

Ure left Rangers for Anderlecht in 2023 and later moved to Sirius, where he has flourished. His form has attracted attention, but he remains focused on his current club. Speaking to the BBC, Ure said: "It's normal when you're young and you're playing well in a good league, you're going to have interest from good leagues and good clubs. Especially when I score four goals, I think the noise is going to increase. It's something that I'm going be interested in, if I think it's the right thing for me. But we have to just wait and see. It's a long summer in the transfer window. Until I'm told otherwise, I need to help Sirius."

Rangers' Transfer Activity

Rangers have been busy this summer under manager Derek McInnes, bringing in five new faces, including Ross McCrorie and Lawrence Shankland, both with Scottish Premiership experience. However, Ure, who fits that template, appears unlikely to rejoin this window. He added: "If we continue playing like we have been, then I think it could be a really special season. At the moment, I don't think I would come back to Scotland. One day, you never know. I'd love to return to Rangers. That's just me trying to test myself and see what league I can go to. I feel like I'm in a really good position and I just need to keep going. That was the plan when I first came to Sweden, to develop as a player and go on to bigger things. Until then, I need to stay focused and I need to keep proving myself."

Other Transfer Setbacks

Rangers also face disappointment in their pursuit of Tottenham winger Mikey Moore, who impressed on loan at Ibrox last season. According to the London Standard, Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi wants to give the teenager a chance in pre-season, and Borussia Dortmund are also interested, seemingly ending Rangers' hopes of a second loan spell. Additionally, Sandefjord defender Zinedin Smajlovic, a reported target, has joined Olympiacos after a move to Rangers failed to materialise.
