Manchester United's pursuit of Crysencio Summerville has received a significant boost, as West Ham United reportedly target Leicester City's Abdul Fatawu as a potential replacement. The Hammers are facing a summer exodus following their relegation to the Championship, with Summerville and Jarrod Bowen attracting widespread interest.
Summerville's Impressive Season Despite Relegation
Summerville was a standout performer for West Ham during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring five goals and providing four assists in a struggling side. His contributions could have been even greater in a more competitive team, according to analysts. The 24-year-old Dutch winger has drawn interest from several European giants, including Manchester United, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Roma.
However, United face competition and a reported £50 million asking price from West Ham. The club is determined to secure a suitable replacement before sanctioning Summerville's departure, which has led them to consider Fatawu.
Leicester's Financial Pressures
Leicester City, relegated to League One for the upcoming season, may be forced to sell key players to balance their books. Fatawu, a 22-year-old Ghanaian winger, is considered the Foxes' talisman after recording nine goals and eight assists last season. Despite being under contract until 2029, Leicester is reportedly open to offers between £15 million and £20 million.
This fee would be comfortably covered by the sale of Summerville, leaving West Ham with additional funds to strengthen their squad for an immediate Premier League return. However, Fatawu is also attracting interest from Everton, RB Leipzig, and Besiktas, all of whom compete in top-flight leagues.
United's Broader Transfer Plans
Manchester United are also closing in on another West Ham star, midfielder Mateus Fernandes. The Reds have reportedly agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old, though West Ham is holding out for an £85 million fee. Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the situation as part of a squad overhaul under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
