West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen appears set to remain at the London Stadium this summer, according to his father-in-law and Hammers supporter Danny Dyer. The 29-year-old's future has been the subject of intense speculation following the club's relegation from the Premier League, but Dyer's latest comments suggest a move is unlikely.
Dyer's Update on Bowen's Future
Speaking to talkSPORT, Dyer said: "He's a very great, loyal man. First and foremost, he is my family, the father of my grandchildren, of course. It's been tough for him. He does deserve Champions League football and whatever decision he makes, or made, I would have supported him. I don't think he's going anywhere, and I think he will rip up the Championship, don't you worry yourself about that."
Bowen, who scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists across all competitions last season, has been linked with clubs such as Liverpool, Aston Villa, Manchester United, and Everton. However, Dyer's update indicates that the England international is likely to stay despite the club preparing for Championship football.
Bowen's Own Words on Relegation
Bowen himself has previously hinted at his desire to remain at West Ham following their relegation. In May, he told Sky Sports: "Ultimately, this season we haven't been good enough and we've paid the price. I'm under contract here. I've been here six and a half years. I've had some really high moments and this is a low moment that will outweigh everything. There's going to be rumours, there's going to be talk. Ultimately, what I see is getting this club back in the Premier League because that is where it deserves to be."
He added: "You never know what the future holds. For me, I want to get this club back in the Premier League. Right now our vision is to do that."
Transfer Speculation and Club Plans
West Ham have already sanctioned one major exit this summer, with Mateus Fernandes completing an £85 million move to rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Reports have suggested that Bowen's asking price could be between £40 million and £50 million, but the club appears keen to retain their captain.
Funds are expected to be raised through other departures. Manchester United target Crysencio Summerville is the next likely big-money exit, valued at around £50 million. Other players such as Jean-Clair Todibo, Alphonse Areola, James Ward-Prowse, Niclas Fullkrug, and Maxwel Cornet are also set to be moved on. However, the club wants to keep the core of the first team that impressed in the second half of last season under manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
