Channel 5 has confirmed that a repeat episode of Forensics: Murder Scene will air in the 9pm primetime slot tonight, Monday, July 13, after the network pulled the true crime drama Under Suspicion: Tracie Andrews - Lover, Liar, Killer at the last minute. The one-off 90-minute film was originally scheduled to debut this evening but was withdrawn on Friday for what the broadcaster described as “scheduling reasons,” with a promise that it “should be back soon.”
Background of the Pulled Drama
Under Suspicion: Tracie Andrews focused on the December 1996 murder of Lee Harvey. According to his partner, Tracie Andrews, Harvey was fatally stabbed in a road rage attack by a man with “staring eyes.” However, forensic evidence later proved that Andrews had killed him after an argument. She was convicted of murder and served a 14-year sentence before being released in 2011. The drama starred former Hollyoaks actress Emma Rigby as Andrews.
Replacement Programme Details
In place of the true crime drama, Channel 5 will air the fourth episode of Forensics: Murder Scene, an observational documentary series that follows forensic teams working alongside West Yorkshire Police to solve and prosecute murders. The episode airing tonight sees teams “called to a terrifying scene: a man fatally stabbed in his kitchen.” The series features Senior CSI Matthew Parkinson and crime scene manager John Parrish.
Family Reaction to the Drama
Prior to the schedule change, Lee Harvey’s daughter Danielle had publicly expressed her upset about the production on TikTok. She stated that her family were the “last to know” about the drama. “I don't mind these things being aired because it keeps my dad's memory alive, he's never going to be forgotten and it makes sure she (Andrews) is never going to live a peaceful life,” Danielle said. “Some pre-warning wouldn't go amiss. It will be 30 years in December since she took my dad's life. To people who watch it, it's just another drama to them - to us it's real life. This is our reality. It's our nightmare and our life sentence.”
