James Shipperley, from Uxbridge, travelled with his 15-year-old son Freddie, spending £1,500 each on tickets. 'You have to break the bank but it's a life memory,' he said. 'What's the point of working if you can't do stuff like this?'

John Gallivan, a Bristol Rovers fan, has been following England since 3 June. He said of the quarter-final: 'I think we can go all the way. Not going to lie, I'm a little bit worried about France because they're absolutely cruising. But if we're there playing them I'd be happy with that.'

Norway fans bring the Viking row

Norway supporters are preparing to perform their famous 'Viking row' celebration at South Beach. Haakon, from Stavanger, predicted a 2-1 win for Norway. 'Man for man England have the edge on us but we've got bigger team spirit,' he said.

A pool party at the Clevelander hotel attracted 600 England fans on Friday, with festivities scheduled until 4am. Neil Barker, a Leeds fan living in Denver, said: 'You wouldn't even know it was happening there. I really wanted to come down and see if England get over the line.'

Sean, from Derby, and his American girlfriend Katie met during England's draw with Ghana. 'The celebrations, the fun and joviality, everything has been brilliant,' Sean said. He added: 'Haaland will be in Dan Burn's pocket.'
