Novak Djokovic overcame a concerning injury scare to defeat Gilles Simon 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 and advance to the Wimbledon semi-finals. The world number one required extensive treatment on his left shoulder after slipping during the match.
Speaking after the victory, Djokovic described the incident as a 'scary fall'. He said: 'I tried to land on my left arm. I basically had a strong impact on the shoulder. When I stood up I felt that click or pop or whatever you call it.'
The Serbian admitted he feared the injury might be severe, saying: 'I feared it might be a dislocated shoulder or something like that, a joint problem.' However, scans revealed no significant damage, allowing him to continue and secure his place in the last four.
Djokovic added: 'Luckily for me it was only an impact that had a minor effect on the joint and the muscles around, but no significant damage that can cause a bigger problem.'
