Emmerdale star Chris Coghill has moved into his own caravan after signing on to the ITV soap full-time, solving what was once a long commute between Hertfordshire and the Yorkshire set.
The actor, who appears as Kev Townsend, told The Sun at the Inside Soap Awards in September that he had found a practical solution to the frequent travel. He said: "I'm driving up and down the A1 like a maniac. I live in Hertfordshire. I go home at the weekends. I've just put a caravan in Leeds. I bring it down with me."
Caravan purchase confirmed
Coghill, who joined Emmerdale last year, purchased a caravan from MTL Caravans and Motorhomes last month. The company confirmed the news in a Facebook post, writing: "A familiar face at MTL Caravans & Motorhomes today! We had the pleasure of welcoming actor Chris Coghill, who collected his new caravan from us today!"
The post continued: "You'll currently recognise Chris as Kev Townsend in Emmerdale, but he's also appeared in some huge British TV shows including EastEnders, Shameless, Slow Horses, Line of Duty, Waterloo Road, Silent Witness, The Gold, The Bay, Cold Feet and Casualty. He's also appeared on the big screen in 24 Hour Party People and Nowhere Boy."
The post concluded: "It was an absolute pleasure meeting you, Chris. Thank you for choosing MTL Caravans & Motorhomes, and we hope you enjoy plenty of adventures in the new caravan!"
Awards success
Coghill has enjoyed success as Kev on Emmerdale, winning two trophies at this year's Inside Soap Awards for 'Best Newcomer' and 'Best Comic Performance'.
Celebrating on Instagram, he wrote: "F****d up my speech last night and missed out on the bit where I was going to say thank you to people individually. In retrospect, it would be impossible to list all of the people that I have genuine gratitude for. And I have already said it in real life to the people whose names I had in my head anyway. I F*****G LOVE THIS JOB. It takes a serious amount of graft to make a show like ours and all of the others that were represented there last night, but the mob in Yorkshire that do it every day with passion and care and a smile on their faces are the team that has become my Emmerdale family. THANK YOU to everyone who voted to recognise my contribution. Blown away. LOVE."
