Tom Kim in Tears After Scottish Open Win as MacIntyre, McIlroy Fall Short
Tom Kim in Tears After Scottish Open Triumph

Tom Kim was in tears after clinching the Scottish Open, his fourth PGA Tour title, as Robert MacIntyre and Rory McIlroy saw their hopes evaporate in the final round at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick.

Kim Dominates Final Round

Kim, 24, surged into a two-shot lead early on Sunday and never relinquished it, holding off challenges from Min-Woo Lee and Matt Fitzpatrick. He finished at 17 under par, sealing victory when Lee failed to overturn the deficit on the 18th hole. The win carries his momentum into The Open at Royal Birkdale next week.

MacIntyre's Hometown Hopes Dashed

Robert MacIntyre, who won the Scottish Open in 2024, started strongly and briefly held the solo lead, delighting the Ayrshire crowd. However, his game unraveled, and he fell out of contention. He finished well behind Kim, unable to replicate his previous success.

McIlroy's Valiant Effort Falls Short

World No. 2 Rory McIlroy fought back with a six-under-par round, but the early deficit proved too great. He ended the tournament at 12 under, well off the pace. The Ayrshire weather turned as the evening progressed, adding to the frustration for the Northern Irishman.

Emotional Victory for Kim

Sky Sports cameras captured Kim in tears after his victory was confirmed. "It's an incredible feeling," Kim said according to Sky Sports. "I worked so hard for this, and to do it here in Scotland, it means everything."

Kim now heads to The Open at Royal Birkdale as one of the form players, aiming to add a major to his growing list of achievements.
