Pregnant Camila Giorgi Plans Tennis Comeback in 2027

Camila Giorgi, the former Wimbledon quarter-finalist who abruptly retired in 2024 to pursue lingerie modelling, has announced she plans to return to professional tennis in 2027—despite being 30 weeks pregnant.

Retirement and Modelling Career

Giorgi, who reached a career-high ranking of world No. 26, was unexpectedly listed as retired on the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) website in May 2024, removing herself from anti-doping testing requirements. The WTA later stated they were unable to contact her, and Italian media reported she had fled to the United States amid tax investigations. Giorgi denied tax fraud allegations and later confirmed her retirement, condemning “inaccurate rumours.”

In October 2024, she appeared on Italian TV programme Verissimo, denying all allegations. “The problems with the tax authorities? My family did not know about them, they were created by outside people who managed me and did this as a job,” she said.

Personal Life and Pregnancy

Giorgi married former Argentine tennis player and coach Andrea Pasutti, and the couple is expecting their first child, a boy. According to her Instagram bio, they live in Mallorca. She has continued to share modelling photos on social media and launched her own tennis camps.

Comeback Announcement

During an Instagram Q&A on Tuesday, a fan asked: “Will you come back to tournament tennis in the future?” Giorgi responded: “Yes in 2027.” When asked if she was making a comeback, she said: “Yes, next year.” She also wrote: “Now I’m a coach, but I’m training for 2027.” Asked about which tournaments she would enter, she replied: “I still don’t know.”

Giorgi has been posting training videos on social media, including one captioned “Hitting session...almost 30 weeks!” showing her volleying with a coach while visibly pregnant.
