Gordon Ramsay was left speechless after Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty announced he would take the Ramsay surname when marrying his daughter Holly. The couple married last December and are expecting their first child.
Speaking to the Daily Mail earlier this year, Ramsay said the couple revealed their decision the night before the wedding. "I was lost for words. A wonderful suggestion. Very modern," he said.
Family Feud and Wedding Controversy
The wedding came amid a family feud, with Peaty estranged from his mother, Caroline. Ramsay denied claims that his parents were purposely snubbed, stating they were sent a chauffeur-driven car for the engagement party but faced "a barrage of press" that was "very hurtful."
Commonwealth Games Return
The six-time Olympic champion returned to action at the Commonwealth Games this month, winning two bronze medals in the 50m and 100m breaststroke. He sparked controversy by saying he "works a lot harder than what it says on the scoreboard" after his 100m bronze.
Peaty, 31, admitted the medals from Glasgow "don't matter much" to him. "Without sounding arrogant, it's just a piece of metal that's not really that important. I don't keep any medals, only the Olympic ones. I have the memories," he said.
He hinted at the family drama taking a toll: "It's hard because I know how hard I've worked. I know the s**t I've been through, which is no fault of my own. It does take a toll."
The 2026 Commonwealth Games are being broadcast on TNT Sports.
