The inaugural Stockport 10k is set to take place this Sunday, July 19, drawing hundreds of participants for a 6.2-mile race through the borough. Organised by RunThrough, the event begins and ends at Stockport County's Edgeley Park stadium, with the finish line at the Cheadle End stand.
Route and Community Impact
The flat course takes runners through Edgeley Park—originally built in 1891 for Stockport RFC—and the scenic Bramhall Park. The race supports the Stockport County Community Trust, established five years ago to deliver football-based projects for good. Eddie Owen, Head of Health & Wellbeing at the trust, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to get active, support an important cause and be part of something that will have a lasting impact on our local community."
Entry and Participant Perks
Participants pay a £34 entry fee and can choose to run for their own charities. Finishers receive an exclusive medal, free race photos, and chip-based results. The event starts at 9am, with a lively events village for supporters.
