Liverpool will be without in-form forwards Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo for Sunday's Premier League clash with leaders Manchester City, following a new injury update from the club.
Isak returned early from international duty with Sweden a fortnight ago after suffering a thigh problem, while Gakpo picked up an ankle complaint while featuring for the Netherlands. Both have been working on their recovery at the AXA Training Centre but remain missing from training, having been absent from Thursday's session.
Three more ruled out
Three other Liverpool players will definitely miss the game as they continue to recover from long-term injuries. Forward Hugo Ekitike faces a battle to feature again this calendar year after suffering a serious Achilles injury in early April, while right-back Conor Bradley continues to recover from the major knee damage he sustained at Arsenal in early January.
Centre-back Giovanni Leoni is edging nearer a return to first-team training after being missing since last September with an ACL injury, but still isn't ready to be considered.
City absentees
City will definitely be without Phil Foden, who is serving a suspension after being sent off in the 1-0 derby win at Manchester United last month. There are doubts over Antoine Semenyo, who has an ankle injury, while Nico O'Reilly was forced to withdraw from England's recent international camp with a minor knock.
