NRL Star Josh Reynolds Duped into Drinking Bourbon During Hull FC Stint
Josh Reynolds duped in Hull FC bourbon prank

Former NRL star Josh Reynolds has opened up about a hilarious prank played on him during his stint with Hull FC in the UK's Super League. The Australian rugby league player admitted he was tricked into drinking bourbon by his teammates in what he describes as a classic initiation ritual.

Reynolds, who joined Hull FC in 2022 after a successful career in the NRL, shared the story in a recent interview. "They told me it was just water," he laughed, "but one sip and I knew I'd been had."

The Great Bourbon Deception

The 34-year-old playmaker revealed how his new teammates convinced him to down what he thought was a harmless drink after training. "I was pretty knackered after session, and they handed me this glass saying 'Here, hydrate mate'. Next thing I know, I'm coughing my lungs out - pure bourbon!"

Reynolds took the prank in good spirits, admitting it helped break the ice with his new squad. "That's rugby league culture for you," he said. "It was all good fun, though I definitely kept a closer eye on my drinks after that!"

From NRL to Super League

The incident occurred during Reynolds' first season with Hull FC, where he made 14 appearances before returning to Australia. Known for his passionate playing style in the NRL with Canterbury and Wests Tigers, the utility back brought his trademark energy to the English game.

While his time in Super League was brief, Reynolds clearly made an impression - both on and off the pitch. "Those lads at Hull were quality," he reflected. "The prank was just their way of welcoming me to the team. I've got some proper good memories from my time over there."
