BBC Radio Tees Legend Dave Llewellyn Dies at 57

Dave Llewellyn, a beloved BBC Radio Tees presenter known for his bright red hair and cheerful personality, has died at the age of 57 after a short illness. He spent over 20 years on air, initially as a travel reporter providing traffic updates from a small plane above the north-east region.

Llewellyn later co-hosted a weekend gardening show and worked as a producer on Gary Philipson's daytime programme for the last six years. Colleagues remembered him as relentlessly positive and kind, with a distinctive fashion sense that included famously terrible shirts.

His daughter Amy described him as an incredibly modest and generous man who always made time for others. She said his true talent shone through when he played keyboards, synthesisers, and bass. He leaves behind his wife Ange, daughter Amy, and their dog Cupid.

BBC Radio Tees paid tribute, saying: 'We're really sad to say that our brilliant colleague and friend, Dave Llewellyn, has passed away. You may know Dave best as being the voice of traffic and travel in the region for more than 20 years. We send our love to his family.'
