The British & Irish Lions have already secured the series victory against Australia, winning the first two Tests 27-19 in Brisbane and 29-26 in Melbourne. However, the third Test in Sydney on Saturday 2nd August 2025 offers the Lions a chance to achieve a clean sweep for the first time since 1974.
Despite the series being decided, controversy from the second Test lingers. Australia coach Joe Schmidt criticised a clearout by Jac Morgan that led to the Lions' match-winning try, claiming it disregarded player safety. Schmidt said, "You cannot hit someone above the level of their shoulders and there's no bind with the left arm." However, former scrum-half Andy Nicol defended Morgan, stating on BBC's Rugby Union Weekly podcast that it was "a classic rugby incident" and a "perfect clearout."
