Tuchel to recall Saka, Gordon, Quansah for England vs Mexico
Tuchel to recall Saka, Gordon, Quansah for England vs Mexico

Thomas Tuchel is set to make three changes to England's starting lineup for their World Cup last 16 match against Mexico, recalling Jarell Quansah, Bukayo Saka and Anthony Gordon. According to the BBC, Tottenham defender Djed Spence complained of a muscle problem on Sunday morning, which may have influenced Tuchel's decision ahead of the Azteca showdown.

Expected lineup changes

Djed Spence, who received mixed reviews for his performance against DR Congo in the round of 32, is set to lose his place at right-back. Noni Madueke and Marcus Rashford are also in line to drop out, with Saka and Gordon replacing them respectively. The expected England starting XI is: Jordan Pickford; Jarell Quansah, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guehi, Nico O'Reilly; Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson; Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon; Harry Kane.

Injury concerns

Reece James is still yet to return from a hamstring injury that ruled him out of England's last two matches, a major blow after Tino Livramento was already ruled out of the tournament. The Chelsea captain has not taken part in full training since his setback and was the sole player absent from England's session on Saturday in Mexico City.
