Reuben Ward won Scotland's third gold medal of the Commonwealth Games, taking top spot in the men's individual all-round gymnastics event for the host nation.
The 21-year-old, born in Bury, Greater Manchester, but with parents from East Kilbride, scored 79.650 to claim victory.
Special victory on home soil
Ward told the BBC: "Glasgow and East Kilbride have been like second homes to me my entire life so to do it here is incredibly special."
He added: "I like to imagine the best scenario possible and that was winning. It kept me awake a little bit because I was picturing it and feeling the emotions. But this beat the expectations by a mile."
More events ahead
Celebrations will be delayed as Ward competes in the floor, rings and pommel on Monday. He is considered a strong medal contender for pommel.
"On Tuesday, after the competition, I'll celebrate big time with the team, with my boys. I love them so much and them coming to see me at the end when I was going around of the arena was special," Ward said. "I'm hoping we'll get to experience a bit of Glasgow."
