Team GB Skier Kirsty Muir's Romance with The Traitors Star Matt Harris
Team GB freestyle skier Kirsty Muir has been capturing attention at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games not only for her athletic performances but also for her relationship with television personality Matt Harris, known for his role in the first series of BBC's The Traitors UK. While Muir narrowly missed out on podium finishes in both the slopestyle and big air events, her personal life has become a heartwarming subplot of the Milano Cortina Games.
Olympic Near-Misses and Personal Support
Kirsty Muir, aged 21, came agonisingly close to securing her first Olympic medal in the big air competition, scoring a combined 174.75 from her best two runs and finishing just 3.5 points behind bronze medalist Flora Tabanelli of Italy. Earlier in February, she missed a slopestyle bronze by a mere 0.41 points. Despite these near-misses, Muir expressed pride in her efforts, telling BBC Sport, "I'm really proud of myself for putting the two tricks down that I did, and also going for it in that third run because I've never landed that trick before. I just had to go for it, and yes I crashed out, but I'm still proud of myself."
Her resilience is bolstered by the support of boyfriend Matt Harris, who gained fame on The Traitors in 2022, where he placed 15th after being murdered in episode six. Harris, 27, has been actively cheering on Muir from their Olympic lodgings, showcasing their bond on social media.
From TV Fame to Olympic Campervan Life
In a recent video on BBC Sport's TikTok page, Harris humorously noted his evolving public identity, saying, "You used to probably know me as Matt from The Traitors, and now probably everyone knows me as Matt, Kirsty's boyfriend." The couple is staying in a campervan fitted with a comfortable double bed and amenities, which Harris described as having "one of the best views I've had out the side door in a long time." He added that he feels "super lucky" to experience the Games alongside Muir.
Harris himself has a sporting background, working as a BMX athlete and a qualified ski instructor. After his exit from The Traitors, he relocated to Switzerland, living in the campervan while pursuing ski expertise. The couple met in 2024 as judges for the Red Bull Soapbox Race, with their first date involving go-karting and a playful forfeit.
A Playful Start to Their Relationship
Muir revealed the lighthearted nature of their early courtship, explaining, "I won, and the forfeit was he had to get a tattoo of a snail." Harris, who has a phobia of snails, confirmed the story, adding, "And I hate snails too – I have a real phobia of them." This anecdote highlights the couple's fun-loving dynamic amidst the high-pressure environment of elite sports.
