A young Canadian couple who gained a global following through their travel and off-roading YouTube channel have died in a car crash in British Columbia.
Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans, who ran the channel Toyota World Runners, were killed after their vehicle crashed while off-roading near Trout Lake in the West Kootenay region on 7 August. Kaslo Search and Rescue (SAR) confirmed that one was found dead at the scene, while the other died later in hospital.
The cause of the crash is believed to be a loss of control while crossing rough terrain. The SAR team noted that emergency response times are much longer in remote areas, urging off-roaders to use safety devices such as seatbelts.
Fans and fellow creators paid tribute online. The couple's mother wrote: 'They are together forever, as we knew they would always be.' The Story Till Now channel described the loss as 'huge' for the off-road community.
The couple were known for their campervan refits and adventures across North and South America, amassing a large online following.
