The future of one of Formula 1's most historic and glamorous races is secure. The Monaco Grand Prix, a fixture on the calendar since 1950, has officially signed a new contract to remain part of the F1 world championship.
The announcement ends months of speculation and intense negotiation between the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) and Formula 1 management. The previous contract had expired after the 2022 event, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the race's long-term future.
A New Deal for a New Era
While the exact financial terms remain confidential, the new agreement is understood to be a standard, modernised commercial deal. This brings Monaco more in line with other Grand Prix hosts, moving away from the historic preferential terms it once enjoyed. The contract is confirmed for a three-year period, covering the 2023, 2024, and 2025 races.
This decision is a huge relief for drivers, teams, and fans for whom the Principality's tight, twisting street circuit represents the ultimate test of precision and skill. Despite not always producing the most overtaking-heavy races, Monaco's unique challenge and unparalleled atmosphere are considered irreplaceable.
More Than Just a Race
The Monaco GP is synonymous with glamour, history, and prestige. It is the centrepiece of a weekend that attracts global celebrities, royalty, and business titans, generating immense value for both the sport and the host nation.
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali acknowledged the race's special status, stating: "I am pleased to confirm that we will be racing in Monaco until 2025 and excited to be back on the streets of this famous Principality for next year’s championship on May 26th. The race in Monaco is a jewel in our crown."
This new deal ensures that the sight of F1 cars racing past the Casino, through the tunnel, and along the harbourfront will remain a thrilling spectacle for years to come.
