Conor McGregor has issued a stark warning to Max Holloway ahead of their welterweight rematch, vowing that the Hawaiian will feel the full force of his power at 170lb. The fight, scheduled for next weekend in Las Vegas, marks McGregor's return to the Octagon for the first time in five years.
McGregor confident after focused camp
Speaking to The Mac Life, McGregor expressed confidence in his preparation. "I feel great, I feel absolutely amazing. The work has been exceptional; no corners cut, you know, no flash. We've been quiet this camp, and we've been at work, so, that's confidence." The Irishman, who won a points decision over Holloway at featherweight in 2013, believes the weight difference will be a decisive factor.
"There's a different thud when you fight against me," McGregor warned. "I fought against Max many years ago, and I look forward to my improvements on it. Danger will be everywhere inside the Octagon for Max."
Holloway unfazed by weight jump
Holloway, however, dismissed concerns about moving up to welterweight. "My thoughts on the fight being at 170 was like, who cares? Weight is just a number. Real gladiators back in the day, they didn't walk around with a scale. You show up and you fight, and I'm a fighter."
The rematch has generated significant buzz, with McGregor embracing the narrative. "I love a rematch. Who doesn't love a rematch? The story builds, the tension builds, the fans get excited. It's great for business."
