McGregor Provides Injury Update After UFC 329 Loss

Conor McGregor has confirmed he will undergo surgery after vowing to continue fighting following his brutal loss to Max Holloway at UFC 329 on Saturday night. The 37-year-old Irishman suffered a right knee injury just seconds into the bout after landing awkwardly from a switch kick, causing him to fall multiple times before the referee stopped the fight at 69 seconds of the first round.

McGregor's Statement and Recovery Plan

On Monday, McGregor provided an update on social media, stating: 'Surgery. Prehab. Return to martial arts practice. Go again. Final fight of the contract. Please God!' He added a lengthy religious message, saying, 'My faith is unconditional and I am thankful I get to prove it! My lifestyle changes are permanent and not just until.'

The Dubliner was seen limping out of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with reports indicating he was heading to hospital. This marks his third consecutive loss, having ended a five-year hiatus to face Holloway for the first time since their 2013 bout, which McGregor won on points.

Future Fights and Holloway's Response

McGregor has two fights left on his second UFC contract, with his final fight tentatively scheduled for April 2027. Despite doubts from the MMA community about his future, McGregor insists he will return. Holloway, who won the rematch via first-round TKO, welcomed a potential trilogy. 'After turning around so fast for this fight in March, it's been fast,' Holloway said. 'But I'd love to see this Conor 170lb domain that he was talking about. I want to see what his injury is first, but I then want to come back again in 2027.'
