Man Utd Boost: Matheus Cunha Returns to Training Ahead of West Ham Clash
Matheus Cunha back in training for Manchester United

Manchester United have been handed a significant fitness boost with the news that forward Matheus Cunha has returned to first-team training.

Cunha's Comeback Confirmed

The Brazilian international has been sidelined for the club's last two matches due to a head injury. His absence was felt in a disappointing defeat to ten-man Everton, though United recovered to secure a 2-1 victory away at Crystal Palace last Sunday.

Manager Ruben Amorim had previously indicated he expected Cunha to be fit for the upcoming match against West Ham United this Thursday. The player himself confirmed the positive update, posting "Back back back" on an Instagram story from the Carrington training ground.

Amorim's Squad Update and Fixture Congestion

While Cunha's return is a lift, Amorim provided further updates on his squad's condition. There was a brief concern over captain Bruno Fernandes, who was seen limping late in the win at Selhurst Park. However, the Portuguese manager clarified the issue was just a knock and expects his midfielder to be available.

The coming weeks present a hectic schedule for United, starting with West Ham's visit. The team then travels to face Wolverhampton Wanderers next Monday, before hosting Bournemouth and Aston Villa. A Boxing Day trip to Newcastle United completes a demanding festive period.

Defensive Returns and Ongoing Absences

In further positive news, defender Lisandro Martinez is in line to make his first start in over nine months during this run of games, having made a brief substitute appearance against Palace.

The injury picture is not entirely clear, however. Striker Benjamin Sesko remains out with a knee injury sustained against Tottenham Hotspur, with Amorim stating his recovery "will take a little bit longer". Centre-back Harry Maguire is also continuing his rehabilitation from a muscle problem picked up in the same match.

Despite the cautious tone, there is optimism that Sesko could feature in the match against Wolves later this month, provided he suffers no setbacks.
