Man Utd accused of disrespect over Sesko injury

Manchester United face accusations of showing a 'lack of respect' towards the Slovenian national team following their silence on a potential knee injury to striker Benjamin Sesko.

International Manager's Frustration Boils Over

Slovenia national team manager Matjaz Kek has publicly demanded that Manchester United break their silence and provide official documentation regarding Benjamin Sesko's condition. The young forward picked up the injury during United's dramatic Premier League draw against Tottenham at the weekend, casting doubt on his international availability.

"With all due respect to a great club like Manchester United, we have officially not received anything yet; no papers, no documents," Kek stated in a strongly-worded update. "We would certainly like to get them. We want our medical team to also take a look at it."

Medical Expertise and Player Welfare Concerns

The Slovenian coach emphasised the qualifications of his medical staff and their commitment to player safety above all else. He revealed that while he has been in direct contact with the player, referred to affectionately as 'Beni', the lack of formal communication from the English club has left his team in the dark.

"I cannot comment, of course I have certain information, and I am also in contact with Beni, of course," Kek explained. "I can't say anything because officially we don't know anything at all. United haven't contacted anyone from our camp."

Kek expressed particular concern for Sesko's wellbeing, stating: "Of course, I am concerned about the player; the only thing that matters to me is his wellbeing. We are prepared to do everything for that, and we have never sent anyone onto the field if there was the slightest risk."

A Call for Respect Between Nations

The situation has escalated into a matter of national pride, with Kek making it clear that Slovenia deserves equal respect despite the stature of their English counterparts. His comments highlight the sometimes tense relationship between club and country regarding player fitness.

"However, the national team is something very special, and I expect maximum respect from everyone," Kek asserted. "Slovenia deserves that, even if on the other side there is a powerhouse like England, and something as extraordinary as the Premier League."

In a final pointed remark, the Slovenia manager added: "After all, it has been quite some time since England defeated Slovenia, and that in itself says something about us."

The developing situation leaves Manchester United under pressure to provide clarity on Sesko's fitness as international duty approaches, with the club's communication protocols now facing serious scrutiny.
