Manchester United Face Injury Worry Ahead of Everton Fixture

Manchester United have been hit with a fresh injury concern just days before their crucial Premier League encounter with Everton. The issue involves forward Matheus Cunha, who was forced to withdraw from a scheduled public appearance at a Christmas lights event in Altrincham on Saturday evening due to medical reasons.

Last-Minute Withdrawal from Festive Event

Cunha had been slated to participate in the festive ceremony alongside Sam Aston, the Dancing on Ice 2025 winner known for his role as Chesney in Coronation Street. However, hours before the event was set to begin, organisers Visit Altrincham released a statement announcing the player's unexpected withdrawal.

The statement revealed that the reason for his absence was an accident during training earlier that day. "Unfortunately Matheus Cunha has had an accident in training today and will not be able to attend tonight’s Christmas Lights Switch on in Altrincham due to medical reasons," the post from Visit Altrincham read.

Event Proceeds with Replacement

Despite Cunha's absence, the Christmas lights switch-on event continued as planned. The organisers confirmed that Sam Aston would still be performing the main duty of illuminating the lights. The event also featured other acts, including a performance by Luzahnn of the band Livin' Joy.

This last-minute injury scare places a cloud of uncertainty over Cunha's availability for Manchester United's upcoming Premier League match. Fans and team management will now be anxiously awaiting further medical updates on the player's condition ahead of the important league fixture.
