Jeremy Clarkson has issued a stark warning to anyone considering a relationship with a farmer, as his girlfriend Lisa Hogan prepares to host a new ITV dating programme. The former Top Gear star, now a farmer himself, spoke out ahead of Hogan's show Farming for Love, which follows single farmers searching for romance.
Clarkson backed the concept but cautioned that rural life is not for everyone. 'Don't date a farmer unless you're prepared to get fully involved,' he told The Sunday Times. 'You're not going to see much of them. They're up early and back late.'
Clarkson and Hogan have been together since 2017, meeting at a party. Hogan, a former actress and model, now appears regularly on Clarkson's Farm, the hit Amazon series about Clarkson's 1,000-acre Cotswolds farm. When asked if Clarkson would be a suitable contestant on Farming for Love, Hogan replied, 'Er, no.' However, she noted his passion for the outdoors and healthier lifestyle.
Clarkson reflected on the difference between his farming persona and his Top Gear character. 'Top Gear was a caricature of the three of us,' he said. 'On the farming show, it's not written or scripted. Something always happens—an ill sheep or cows out of grass. It's a lot more relaxing.'
The fifth season of Clarkson's Farm is expected soon, with Amazon anticipating huge viewing figures. The show debuted in 2021 to surprising success, drawing 4.3 million viewers—outperforming Amazon's Lord of the Rings series. Clarkson hinted at dramatic moments ahead but said there would be no major press campaign.
