Rice and Spence injury scares
England's medical staff are monitoring Declan Rice and Djed Spence after both suffered injury scares during the 1-1 draw with Ghana at the Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts. Rice was seen with significant strapping on his left calf following a strong challenge near the corner flag in the second half. Despite hitting the deck several times in the closing stages, the midfielder was able to finish the match.
Spence, who snubbed a pre-match handshake with Ghana's Thomas Partey, appeared to pick up an ankle knock while defending against Marvin Senaya at the back post. The Tottenham full-back was substituted after 66 minutes and was spotted limping heavily after the final whistle.
Tuchel defends Bellingham
Manager Thomas Tuchel has hit back at Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz's claim that Jude Bellingham "could have been sent off" for a tackle on Jerome Opoku. The challenge sparked a mass confrontation between Bellingham and the Ghana bench, with the midfielder being calmed down by teammates at half-time.
Queiroz said: "My intention was to tell him to cool down with that tackle. It could be a second yellow card, a red card." He added that Bellingham "had a bad reaction with some bad names." Tuchel responded: "I could not see any red card for us today. Jude stood up for himself and for us as a team."
Bellingham admits 'silly tackle'
Bellingham has since clarified it was a "silly tackle" and that he has nothing but respect for Queiroz. Tuchel also appeared to take a swipe at Ghana, noting they celebrated the draw like a victory, saying: "They got a last-minute winner and four points is the target, they celebrated like a win, we were disappointed."
England will face Panama in their final Group L match on Saturday, with both Rice and Spence undergoing assessment at the team's Kansas City training base.
