Arsenal Close to £52m Madueke Deal as Norgaard Joins

Arsenal are nearing a £52 million deal for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, with the clubs in advanced talks. The 23-year-old has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract at the Emirates, and a compromise is expected to be reached this weekend after Chelsea demanded over £50 million. The deal includes add-ons taking the fee to £52 million.

However, the transfer has provoked a negative reaction from Arsenal supporters, with an online petition launched against the move. Madueke would become Arsenal's second signing of the window, following the arrival of Christian Norgaard from Brentford.

Norgaard completed a £12 million move earlier this week, signing a two-year deal with a 12-month option. The Denmark international, who will wear the No.16 shirt, expressed his delight at joining a Champions League club, describing it as a “childhood dream.” He said, “Now I get to hear the anthem and be a part of a Champions League campaign. It's something I'm really, really happy about.”

Manager Mikel Arteta welcomed Norgaard, praising his leadership, tactical awareness, and versatility. “He is a strong midfielder with excellent tactical awareness and versatility. He also has physical presence and intelligence which will give us added depth and balance,” Arteta said.

Madueke's potential arrival would bolster Arsenal's attacking options after they missed out on other targets, while Chelsea continue to offload players following a summer spending spree that included Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, and Joao Pedro.
