Ukraine landed a direct hit on a Russian war factory in Oryol using a British Storm Shadow missile, according to reports. Video shared from the battlefield appears to show a major complex being destroyed by the missile, The Sun reports.
The factory, believed to be the Proton-Electrotex facility, produced components for ballistic weapons. The strike, which produced a huge fireball, is the second major victory for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a matter of days.
Starlink Restoration Marks Second Win
Alongside the factory strike, Zelensky is celebrating the return of Starlink connectivity to the battlefield. The internet connection, and its military equivalent Starshield, are used for mobile communications and controlling drones — a key feature of the Russia-Ukraine War.
Speeds were cut earlier this month, leading to talks between Zelensky, Starlink owner Elon Musk, and Donald Trump in an effort to reconnect the service. On Saturday, October 24, Zelensky posted on X: "The most important thing today is that Starlink and Starshield operations have been restored to the speeds we had before the restrictions. The speeds are now where they need to be."
Zelensky Thanks American Partners
Zelensky added: "The restoration began overnight, and by this morning, speeds were already sufficient. This matters: for our frontline logistics, for defending Ukraine against jet-powered 'shaheds.' I thank all Americans and all our partners who took this seriously and truly helped – members of Congress, senators, all the media, the State Department, and the President. Protecting lives matters."
Elsewhere, Melania Trump claims she has brokered a ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to reach the Ukrainian city of Oleshky, close to the Crimean Peninsula, where starvation is said to be growing.
