Ryan Giggs now lives a completely different life to when he was one of Manchester United's star players. The most decorated player in Premier League history is synonymous with the Old Trafford club, but he retreated from the limelight in the years following his retirement.
He remains a deeply controversial figure and his career is viewed against a backdrop of personal scandals, which some claim overshadow his legacy on the pitch.
His recent role in football
Giggs' most recent involvement in football was as director of football at Salford City, the League Two club he formerly co-owned alongside his Class of '92 teammates prior to a takeover in May of this year.
A new ownership consortium, led by Gary Neville and David Beckham, acquired the club from the original Class of '92 shareholders and the previous majority shareholder, Peter Lim.
Although Giggs' director of football role was never officially announced, and he left the club last year, he was a familiar face in the dugout over recent months, forging a close working relationship with manager Karl Robinson, who has described his input as "outstanding".
Pathway back into football
The 10% stake he purchased in Salford back in 2014 effectively provided him with a pathway back into football following his Wales departure.
Club interviews and a Sky documentary captured him assisting on the training pitch and offering advice behind the scenes, while his public profile received a further boost when Salford faced Manchester City in the FA Cup.
All of this comes years after domestic abuse charges against him were dropped. He was found not guilty after his ex-girlfriend, Kate Greville, declined to give evidence in a retrial and Giggs, who denied the charges, then set about rebuilding his career.
When discussing management and a potential return to the dugout, he said: "I loved managing Wales, obviously. I do miss it, so hopefully."
Having a baby at 50 with new girlfriend
Giggs became a father once more at the age of 50 after his partner Zara Charles gave birth to their first child together. The couple welcomed a daughter, named Cora, on November 1 of 2024.
A spokesperson for the former Manchester United star confirmed: "Ryan and his partner Zara are delighted to announce the birth of their daughter, Cora Giggs, who was born on Friday, November 1."
"They extend their warmest gratitude to all the amazing staff, especially the midwives, at Wythenshawe Hospital."
Cora is Giggs' third child. He's already a father to two children – Zach, 18, who plays for Sheffield United and Wales youth teams, and Libby, 22 – from his marriage to Stacey Cooke.
Zara, a 38-year-old lingerie model who has been in a relationship with Giggs since 2021, also has a daughter from a previous relationship.
The pair share a seven-bedroom property in Greater Manchester, acquired for approximately £2.1million.
