Matt Baker and his wife Nicola have been dealt a major setback while renovating their new home, as they discover the end wall of the main barn needs to be taken down and rebuilt by stonemasons.
The TV presenter's new series, Matt Baker: Our Barn in the Dales, follows the couple as they renovate a barn on Matt's parents' land. In a preview of Tuesday's episode, Matt and Nicola face the setback, with Matt saying in a voiceover: "We need to take the whole thing down and rebuild it. We have a major setback."
Major Setback on the Build
Matt added: "I don't want to hit it too hard, or the whole end of the barn will come down. But that's the plan." He continued: "Our build goes to the next level. There is no going back now. We have no roof."

Kitchen Plans and Family Bricks
During the latest episode, Matt and Nicola showed viewers where their kitchen would be in the conversion, with Nicola admitting: "It was the right decision." Matt explained that they plan to use old bricks stored on the farm for years, including Victorian bricks for the gin gang area.
Matt recalled: "I remember stacking these here when I was about 14 years old. We had an old pig sty round the back, and it fell down, and my dad was like, 'Hop them to one side because we'll need them one day', and well, he was absolutely right, and quite amazing that we're going to be putting them into our home when they're all cleaned up."
Modern Technology in Traditional Look
Matt described how the barn doors will be clad on the outside and filled inside to create units, saying: "But from the outside, it will look like a traditional gin gang. This is the amazing thing about building today: you can go for that traditional look while having all the modern technology."
Nicola added: "I personally felt like it was better to have a kitchen with, you know, nice smooth walls, so we can either put tiles on or paint it. So it's actually better, so you can keep it cleaner rather than having the stone and everything."
Out in the fields, Matt, Nicola and Janice help a struggling sheep give birth to an unusually large lamb, and Matt and Nicola reveal plans to welcome a new sheepdog puppy to the farm. Matt Baker: Our Barn in the Dales is available to watch on All4.
