In a major boost for grassroots football, Flutter UKI has launched a monumental £1 million rescue fund aimed at supporting local clubs facing financial hardship across the United Kingdom.
The initiative, dubbed Cash4Clubs, will provide vital grants of up to £10,000 to amateur football teams for essential facility improvements, new equipment, and community outreach programmes. This marks the single largest commitment of its kind from a British operator to the grassroots game.
Who Can Apply for Funding?
The fund is open to any registered amateur football club in England, Scotland, or Wales. Applications are now live and will remain open until October 31st, 2024.
Clubs are encouraged to apply for grants to cover a wide range of costs, including:
- Critical pitch and facility maintenance
- Purchasing new kits, goals, and training equipment
- Funding coaching badges and qualifications
- Launching new community youth programmes
- Improving accessibility and inclusivity initiatives
A Direct Response to a Growing Crisis
The launch comes at a critical time for local sports. Rising energy costs, increased pitch hire fees, and a decline in traditional sponsorship have pushed many beloved community clubs to the brink of collapse.

This £1 million fund will provide a tangible lifeline, ensuring these clubs not only survive but thrive for future generations."
The programme is being delivered in partnership with the Football Foundation, the UK’s leading sports charity, which will oversee the application process and ensure funds are distributed fairly and effectively.

Club secretaries and managers can find full eligibility criteria and the online application form on the official Cash4Clubs website. A panel of judges from Flutter and the Football Foundation will review all submissions, with successful clubs notified before the end of the year.
This significant investment underscores a growing recognition of the social value of amateur sports and represents a crucial shot in the arm for the nation's favourite game at the local level.
