Michael Carrick and Roberto De Zerbi are the managers most likely to be sacked next, according to the bookies. Both bosses are set to go head-to-head as Manchester United host Tottenham on Saturday evening.
Carrick and De Zerbi are both priced at 9/4 with Betfair to become the next Premier League head coach to leave their position. The loser of the showdown at Old Trafford will be under even more pressure.
Pressure Mounts on Both Managers
Especially if Tottenham fail to pick up any points because they sit bottom of the Premier League table, having lost three games and drawn two. Despite saving the squad from relegation on the final day of last season, De Zerbi knows he has to turn things around quickly.
Spurs failed to score in their first four league matches until they put two past Aston Villa in a 3-2 loss prior to the international break. However, De Zerbi's side have shown glimpses of attacking force and capability, just lacking the clinical finesse.
United's Struggles Under Carrick
Meanwhile, Carrick is also feeling the heat with United sitting 12th in the league after five games. The Red Devils have won one, drawn two and lost two.
United's 1-0 loss to 10-man Manchester City, 3-2 defeat at home to Brighton and 1-1 draw at Fulham puts Carrick as a frontrunner for the axe. Carrick has some credit in the bank for steering United into qualifying for the Champions League last term, which subsequently led to him being appointed as the new manager for the 26/27 season.
Saturday's late kick-off between the two clubs could give a huge indication of the future for one of the managers. Whilst Carrick and De Zerbi are likely to make the headlines this weekend, two other managers are likely to face criticism soon.
Other Managers in the Firing Line
Replacing the steady ship that was Marco Silva's Fulham was never going to be easy for ex-Real Madrid boss Alvaro Arbeloa. However, despite financial backing, his team are currently 19th.
There has already been speculation about how the players are adapting to the Spaniard's philosophy, as Alex Iwobi and Emile Smith Rowe removed all traces of playing for Fulham on social media. Betfair has Arbeloa at 4/1 to be sacked next.
Pierre Sage has taken over from Crystal Palace's most successful manager, Oliver Glasner, who won the club a European trophy, FA Cup and Community Shield. That same team are now 15th with only one win, one draw and three losses. Coming from Lens, Sage is still adjusting to the Premier League but sits at 9/2 to be the first to leave.
