Scottie Scheffler's caddie, Ted Scott, has earned more than £4.1 million this year following the golfer's historic season. Scheffler concluded 2024 with a victory at the Hero World Challenge on Sunday, adding another £783,000 to his total winnings of approximately £43 million.
The 28-year-old Masters champion won nine times in 21 starts, including The Players Championship and the Olympics, and secured his first FedEx Cup. His caddie Scott, who took on the role in 2021, benefits from a typical player-caddie arrangement that sees caddies earn 10 per cent of winnings after a victory, seven per cent for a top-10 finish, and five per cent for making the cut.
Under this formula, Scott's share would amount to over £4 million for the year. Scheffler's largest payday came at the Tour Championship, where he earned £19.6 million, followed by £3.5 million at The Players Championship. His per-tournament average was £2.5 million, equating to £628,000 per round and around £9,000 per swing.
Before winning the FedEx Cup, Scott had already amassed over £2 million on the PGA Tour, which would have placed him 58th on the money list, ahead of three-time major winner Jordan Spieth. Speaking on the Pardon My Take podcast, Scheffler revealed he relies on a financial assistant to manage payments to Scott, saying, 'We have a girl that helps us pay bills basically because I'm a child and I can't keep track of all that stuff.'
Scheffler and Scott were part of the same bible study group before teaming up, with Scheffler citing Scott's faith as a key factor in his decision to hire him. 'I really want to work with a Christian. That's how I try to live my life,' Scheffler said.
