Pierre Sage Sets Clear Target as New Crystal Palace Manager

Pierre Sage said he hopes to build on Oliver Glasner's legacy after he was appointed head coach of Crystal Palace.

Glasner left southeast London having won three trophies in just over 12 months, adding the Conference League to the trophy cabinet in his final match in charge. The FA Cup he won in 2025 was the club's first major honour.

Sage has now been confirmed as the Austrian's successor, signing a three-year deal after calling time on a successful spell in his native France with Lens.

He was named last season's Ligue 1 Manager of the Year after steering Lens to a second-place finish, and also won the Coupe de France, beating Nice 3-1 in the final.

The 47-year-old, who has previously coached at Lyon and lower-league Parisian side Red Star, hopes his trophy-winning nous will translate well to life at Selhurst Park, which will host Europa League football in 2026/27.

"It's amazing to be here at Crystal Palace. I am excited by the history of the club, and by recent seasons," Sage told the club's website.

"Oliver Glasner achieved some amazing things, and now I have to do the same. That's why we come here with a lot of ambition.

"The dynamic here is really positive, and we are in this mindset too. We won last year – and we want to continue in this way, in a new club, a new project, but with a lot of winning habits."

He added: "We want to give our best every day for the team, for the club, for the people, and especially for the fans, because when you love a club in England, it's for all your life.

"We want to give the fans what they want. We want to make the fans smile, to be proud of the team, and to be proud of the club – so we will give our best for you, and we are together."

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish said he is "tremendously excited" to have Sage at the club.

Sage will take charge of the club for the first time when pre-season begins later this summer.
