Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw will miss Manchester United's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid after picking up injuries in the weekend's draw with Tottenham Hotspur. Michael Carrick's side travel to Spain on Tuesday looking to build on their 4-0 win over Sabah in their last European outing.
Mainoo and Shaw ruled out
The midfielder and defender both picked up problems in the 1-1 draw against Spurs, where United were pegged back in stoppage time despite the opposition being reduced to 10 men. Neither player has travelled with the squad for the match in Madrid.
Carrick said: "They've not travelled, both picked up issues in the game at the weekend so they're out." The exact nature of the injuries and potential return dates have not been disclosed.
Sesko and Dorgu sidelined
Benjamin Sesko remains unavailable after withdrawing from the Slovenia squad over the international break. The striker has missed the last two Premier League matches after picking up a shin problem in the Carabao Cup clash with Brighton last month.
Carrick said of Sesko: "We're still waiting for a few extra tests. We need to be on top of it. We haven't got a timeframe."
Patrick Dorgu is also out after coming off during Denmark's Nations League match with Wales. Carrick said: "Patrick came off and looks like he'll be out for probably a number of weeks," with a return expected in late November or early December.
Other absentees
Noussair Mazraoui missed the Spurs game after being taken off during Morocco's victory over Lesotho, while Matthijs De Ligt has yet to appear this season but has travelled with the squad to Spain. Manuel Ugarte is likely to be out until summer 2027 after a serious knee injury suffered at the World Cup, and Tom Heaton remains sidelined with a hamstring problem suffered before the season began.
