Kane and Rice Injury Update: Both Ready for Ghana Clash
Kane and Rice Ready for Ghana Game After Injury Scare

England captain Harry Kane and midfielder Declan Rice are both ready to play against Ghana on Tuesday. This comes after concerns for both players following Wednesday’s 4-2 win over Croatia in England’s World Cup 2026 opener.

Rice was substituted in favour of Morgan Rogers after 72 minutes at Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Kane remained on the pitch for the entire game, scoring twice, but was photographed wearing strapping around his left leg as he met friends and family after the match.

Rice had complained of pain, but his replacement was only precautionary. Kane’s strapping was to minimise the effects of cramp.

Training and Availability

Both players are expected to take part in full training in Kansas City later this week as England prepare for their second Group L match against Ghana at Boston Stadium. They are both expected to be available for selection.

Rice, the Arsenal midfielder, assisted Kane for England’s second goal against Croatia, swinging in a corner that Kane powerfully headed home.

Tuchel’s Comments

Manager Thomas Tuchel said: “Declan pointed to his lower back, upper hamstring and feels some discomfort. I didn’t want to take any risks. It was a moment to protect him. Declan reassured me at the end it’s good. It’s nothing big to worry about.”
