Sir Nick Faldo has responded to Greg Norman's accusations that he made "nasty" remarks about his role with LIV Golf, releasing text messages to support his case. The six-time major winner had initially held off on his reply out of respect for the Masters tournament.
Norman, who finished second to Faldo at Augusta in 1996, launched an attack earlier this month, labelling Faldo "entitled" and "nasty". Speaking to The Telegraph, Norman said Faldo had made "really nasty" comments about him during his time with LIV and criticised him for not seeking both sides of the story.
Faldo's management company has now issued a document including screenshots of text exchanges from December 2020 and November 2022. The messages show Faldo inviting Norman onto his programme to discuss LIV and golf, an offer Norman allegedly turned down. Another exchange shows Faldo sending best wishes after Norman's hospitalisation with COVID.
In a statement, Faldo said: "Given the passage of time and the changes that have since taken place within the game of golf, Sir Nick does not consider that discussion a relevant one to reopen. Accordingly, no further comment will be made."
