Matheus Cunha's reaction during a Manchester United training session has not gone unnoticed, with fans praising the forward's competitive spirit. The Brazil international joined the Reds from Wolves last summer in a £62.5million deal and contributed 10 goals and four assists in 33 league appearances during his debut campaign.
Cunha's enthusiasm on display
Footage shared on United's YouTube channel showed Cunha's enthusiasm during a passing drill that ended with the attacking side scoring. After the ball hit the net, Cunha congratulated his teammates, exclaiming: “Quality!”
Fans responded positively to the clip, with one commenting: “I love Cunha's reaction!!!” Another added: “QUALITY! That's what I say every time I see Cunha play.” A third fan wrote: “Cunha is so dramatic mehn lol,” while a fourth said: “Can tell already Rashy and Cunha gonna bring the best out of each other.”
Competition for places
Cunha faces competition for the left-wing spot, with Marcus Rashford returning from a loan at Barcelona and Patrick Dorgu also impressing in an attacking role. Manager Michael Carrick, who won 12 of his 17 games in charge last season, has used Dorgu on the left wing in pre-season, including against Leeds in Dublin.
Discussing Rashford after the Leeds draw, Carrick told ITV Sport: "He's our player, you know, and he's come back great. He's just like any other player. I've known Marcus a long time and, you know, he gives us something a little bit different. And he's been in great spirits since he's been back."
Upcoming fixtures
United begin their Premier League campaign away at Hull City on August 22, with Cunha expected to feature. Before that, they face AC Milan in Wroclaw on Saturday in their final pre-season friendly.
