Chelsea are prepared to part ways with Trevoh Chalobah during the summer transfer window, with the centre-back attracting significant interest from several clubs. The 24-year-old, who made 47 appearances across all competitions last season, is not considered untouchable as new manager Xabi Alonso prepares to take charge.
Interest from Serie A and Champions League clubs
Standard Sport understands that while Chelsea value Chalobah highly and are not actively seeking to sell, the volume of interest from multiple clubs could facilitate a departure. Serie A side Como, managed by former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, are among a number of Champions League-calibre teams monitoring the Cobham graduate.
Alonso is reportedly keen to secure a top-level centre-back to partner Levi Colwill next season, which could leave Chalobah surplus to requirements. The Blues have also been linked with Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix, potentially prompting a move to offload Chalobah to make room for defensive reinforcements.
Chalobah praises incoming manager Alonso
Despite the uncertainty, Chalobah has expressed enthusiasm about working with Alonso. Asked whether Alonso's reputation would help players buy into his methods, Chalobah said: "Most definitely. He’s a manager like that, an ex-player as well, coming in and automatically you can just feel the presence, knowing what he is going to demand, and we are all excited to work with him."
Chalobah was recently called up to Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad as a replacement for the injured Tino Livramento, highlighting his standing in the game.
